Beckner Family Moments: Labor Day Weekend and the City of Rocks

Labor Day weekend was such a fun long weekend. I got to spend some quality time with my family and friends, which was long overdue. On Labor Day we went to the city of rocks with the Hansen family and the missionaries (Elder Cuevas and Elder Davis) I have to admit that it was a weird trip, I began with Heather getting her fingers slammed in her van door (this should have been our warning to pack up and leave) However we continued to unload the vehicles with our drinks and lunches. Heather then realized that in the midst of getting her own children prepared for the outing she had forgotten to change into her tennis shoes, so she was not stuck there in her flip fops (which isn't exactly proper attire for the City of Rocks) After Heather received an ant bite due to lack of tennis shoes we gathered the kids and decided to go for a walk around the rocks. The men quickly began climbing on the rocks trying to prove who was the bravest (except for Kev who was carrying Bergen around in a baby carrier) The men then decided to jump from one rock to another.. They all made it across safely but while trying to get down from the second rock Elder Cuevas fell off, injuring his wrist and hip. We headed back to doctor up his wounds and get ice packs on his wrist, and all sat down to eat lunch. Since Elder Cuevas was in quite a bit of pain we decided to head home...and to top it all off poor Addison was bit by an ant in the neck while heading to the van :( Even though it sounds like a horrible trip, we actually had alot of laughs and made many great memories. After naps for everybody we all got back together for a Labor Day BBQ. The Parrish's were able to join us as well as Jen, Alyssa and a few more friends. It really was a very fun and long day! I am so glad to have so many great friends to make new memories with!
